June Update :)

Hello!

Hope everyone is doing well!

This may be a shorter update, but overall, all is well!

During the Summer, a lot of our focus is shifted towards support raising and building a team of people who are EXCITED about campus ministry! It has caused me to reflect a lot on just how thankful I am for you guys being on my team, and joining me in this vision. I want every student at UTD to know Jesus. That’s a big vision… but I serve a big God! And I know He wants all His children at UTD to experience His goodness. So it’s just mind blowing to me that you all would share my heart for that at UTD and partner with me financially and through prayer. THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart.

I am 96% funded and have LOTS of prayer warriors, which is such a God deal! He’s been so faithful to bring people to my team who are excited about what He’s doing.

We also don’t have a UTD specific service during the Summer, as a lot of our students have gone home. Instead, we have a combined service with the rest of the FOCUS campuses for any students in town. This has been a blast! It’s fun to get to be around the staff and students who we normally just see at combined events that we hold during the school year (which are few and far between).

If you’re new here, there are about 10 campuses in the DFW metroplex that FOCUS has a ministry at! FOCUS’ vision is that every college in the DFW metroplex would have a FOCUS ministry. So we are chipping away! But during the Summer, we all get together and worship/hear a teaching time/connect with one another.

We are in the thick of starting to talk about Welcome Week for August! The busiest two weeks of the year for us are the week before and week of school starting. UTD FOCUS has an event every evening to be able to pull in new students and introduce them to friends/community. We also have a new group of student leaders every year that we train and equip to be the “boots on the ground” in their classes and among their peers. So there’s a lot of planning that happens in the Summer to make sure those weeks are successful! Please start praying for Welcome Week, that God would prepare the hearts of the students He wants to be involved this year and that we would be faithful in doing all we can to meet as many people as possible. Sometimes students will tell us at one of those first events that we are the first people they have spoken to since moving in… sometimes a WEEK before! It can be lonely and intimidating to come to a whole new place without your family and friends. We seek to be a place where everyone feels welcome to be part of our FOCUS family!

So keep the beginning of the school year in your prayers. It’s a very tiring but rewarding time that I want to be equipped and prepared for!

I am praying for each and every one of you. I am immensely grateful <3

Love,

Kylie Sanchez
