October Scaries!! (October Update)

You know that saying, “Sunday Scaries”? If you don’t, when one has the Sunday Scaries, they find themselves on Sunday thinking about how the next day is Monday which means your weekend is over… and you’re not looking forward to the beginning of the work week! I don’t experience Sunday Scaries often, other than wishing I had more weekend free time to get more chores and adulting done. But I feel like this month, I realized that we only have 5 more weeks of the semester! I feel like I only blinked between Welcome Week to now. It has gone by so fast. But God has been working over this semester, and it’s been neat to share it with you!

Speaking of time going by quickly, I have a neat story to share. This is my friend Siena! We led Core (small group) together my Senior year of college at UT Dallas for FOCUS. That year we both had a lot of personal growth, not knowing where the year would end of taking us.

Flash forward FOUR YEARS (like…how?) and we are both working on staff for FOCUS! Siena is on staff with FOCUS at SMU, and I’m still at UTD all these years later. Siena has been a steadfast friend, and now I get to stand alongside her as she marries one of my sweet friends, Jacob!

Arguably my favorite thing about campus ministry is how relational it is. The people who become community with one another in FOCUS tend to find friends for life. Siena is one of many girls who is still part of my life years after we are students, and it’s just a bit sweeter that now we get to be co-workers. I hosted her bridal shower this month, and it really brought me full circle. :)

Siena and I circa 2018-19 school year!

We had a Trunk or Treat for Halloween after one of our Friday services! I didn’t get many pictures, but here’s some students after winning a photo scavenger hunt around campus… including my friend Hannah who I lead core with!

They’re sorority squatting…lol. From L to R:
Gordon, Juke, Kai, Ben, and Hannah

We also did what we call, “Brown Bag Bash” this month. If you’re interested in participating, you put your name and number on a slip of paper and place it in a brown bag that gets passed around at our FNF service. Then, you’re randomly paired with a group of people to hang out after Friday Night Fellowship! My group got together and play Fish Bowl, which is like charades combined with another popular game that’s not coming to mind. It was sweet hanging out with them!

From L to R: Praise, Jacob, Jason, Tim, Angie, me, Peter, Mykayla, Nive, and Andrew!

Thank you so much for reading these updates, and for being an integral part in why I can do what I do! It is so meaningful and special to me. Continue to pray for my ministry, that it would be Jesus-centered and produce fruit for His Kingdom.

Love to you all!
