O Come Let Us Adore Him! (December Update)

Remi and I <3

Hi there!

December was such a fast month. I feel like I’ve really been thinking about the incarnation this Christmas season.

I have a nephew now! My sister Jordy gave birth to a beautiful baby almost a year ago. He is SUCH a joy in my life. I think this is why I’ve been thinking about the incarnation a lot this Christmas. I don’t have any kids, so experiencing Remi’s life this year and getting to be so up close to parenting has really made this truth come to life for me. I can’t comprehend the God of the Universe coming down and living as a helpless baby. Not being able to lift his own head. Not being able to feed himself. Crying to notify his teenage, human parents that he needed something. It just made the season feel so much more surreal looking at my nephew teeter around through life, holding my hand so he can practice walking around and relying on me to keep him from falling. God gave up his ability to do that himself and came in the most helpless form to save us and show His love for us. It’s amazing!! I hope you’re struck by this and take some time to reflect instead of looking at a nativity scene with familiar eyes.

We had a few events before our students went home for the holidays!

Christmas Party

We had a Christmas party to celebrate with our students, and did a Polar Express theme! We had a whole hot chocolate dance scene and served our students hot chocolate in train cars, played train and Christmas trivia, and did some Christmas crafts.

Our UTD staff! L to R: Brandon, Lailah, David, Lindsey, Cort, Peter, me, Mandy, Amy, Stian (As the conductor!), Andrea, Laurence, Jessica.
