I love Spring (Outreach Week)! (March Update)

Hello, everyone! I hope you have had a great month! 

Our students had Spring Break this month, so our pastoral team got to take a few days off that week. Johnny and I celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary by going to Fort Worth and exploring the Stockyards! It was quite the cowboy experience. It was refreshing, but then we came right back to some busy weeks ahead!

SOW Week! 

The most notable part of this month is something called, Spring Outreach Week, or SOW for short. We have students from a campus ministry called CCF (affiliated with Chi Alpha) at Western Washington University come for their Spring Break to do outreach on our campus! Years ago when FOCUS was founded, we got connected to this ministry through a Google search to find a Christian leadership conference that they could attend. Over the years we’ve developed a friendship with CCF’s team of pastors, and still attend SICM (Student Institute of Campus Ministry) all these years later! They do school in quarters instead of semesters, so when their students have Spring Break, our school is in session! They offer students in their ministry to volunteer and pay to come here for a week to do a mission trip. So cool! All of the students this year are so sweet and have been fun to get to hang out with! We’ve hosted outreach every day for them and they’ve had some really neat conversations.

Rez Fair 

Every year in the week leading up to Easter, we host an event on campus called Rez Fair to celebrate the resurrection. We invite all the other ministries to participate, as well as local churches we have partnerships with or have done events with. This year we had a GREAT turnout! It was so neat to see the center of campus with 18 or so booths for the groups that wanted to participate! We had music and games, and each booth had an activity. There was palm folding, origami making, homemade Samosas.. and lots of neat interactions. At the FOCUS booth, we baked dozens of cookies and had people ask a Spiritual question to get a cookie. It was really neat, and we had about 150 students engage the table over the course of 4 hours! We had beautiful weather. Overall, it was a great time and it was beautiful to unite with these other groups to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus!

We’ve also had SO many baptisms this month! Praise God!

This next month will be fast and furious! We have a couple big events to celebrate the end of the year, and I’m trying to finish well with the girls that I get to spend weekly time with as Summer approaches. Please pray that I would be able to finish well! Please pray that our student leaders would enjoy this last month of leading before their break, and wrap up any bible studies and small groups well.
