November Ministry Update!

 Hello, there!

November was a great month. We are nearing the end of the semester, which is SO hard to believe. It feels like we just started the school year! But it’s been a great year so far. In the spirit of thankfulness,  I can’t help but think of how grateful I am for all of you partnering with me so that I’m able to be a campus pastor. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for your financial support, prayers, and encouragement. I am so richly blessed by you!

Keep FOCUS Growing

We have a fundraiser every Giving Tuesday called Keep FOCUS Growing! This year, the theme for the fundraiser is, “Ripe for Harvest.” This fundraiser supports all the costs outside of pastor salaries to help our mission to reach more students! While our campus missionaries each fundraise towards their own salaries, those funds don’t cover things like outreach materials & events, staff development, administrative support, or pioneering new campus ministries.

The annual Keep FOCUS Growing campaign helps provide for those opportunities, among others, and ensures that FOCUS will be a consistent influence on DFW campuses for decades to come.

A subset of our generous ministry partners has pledged to match $77,000 in donations that come in during this campaign. Give now to take advantage of these matching funds and double your gift!

Our campaign will end on Giving Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024, but you don’t have to wait until then to give! Please consider giving anytime to partner in our mission of making and maturing disciples on DFW college campuses! If interested in giving, head to this link: https://anyfocus.org/kfg/

Pizza Theology

Twice a year, we have an event that we call, “Pizza Theology.” It’s a deeper dive into Scripture/Biblical topic, with a 4 hours of lecture and an hour break in the middle for pizza. It’s a FOCUS-wide event, so our staff and students from all 10 of our campuses in the metroplex come together for it. This year, we flew in Rikk Watts, who is a biblical scholar and retired seminary professor from Regent College. He spoke on 1 and 2 Samuel and it was so enlightening. He LOVES God and His Word, and it was really impactful to hear his passion and love through his material. We probably had about 300 students there!

I also gave a couple sermons this semester at the grove, which is our Friday night large-group gathering. We did a series on James, and I preached about taming the tongue and the dangers of wealth. If you’re interested in listening, here are the links!

Keep praying for all that God is doing and has yet to do on our campus. We have kept up the momentum from the beginning of the year and have anywhere between 185-200 students coming to our Friday night gatherings, and about 350 students that are involved in small groups consistently! This has been a great year but we know there are still thousands of students on our campus who don’t know Jesus!

Love to you all!
